In the distance you can see across the breadth of the Wairarapa to the mountains of the central divide. In the foreground you can see remnants of Red Tussock grass that the English settlers found when they arrived and soon replaced with grass that sheep would eat.

 

We came across this scene very late in the afternoon. The sun was streaming low across the hills creating these immensely dark shadows.
